Week 1 of the BOMP Fantasy Football League in the books. There were a lot of close games this week. Here is a recap of each match up.
Fat Asian Baby Football Club defeats Halls Mentho Lyptus 129-116
In the highest scoring match up of the week, Duck edges out Hallsy late on Monday night thanks to Carlos Hyde's breakout performance. This is a tough loss for Hallsy, as 116 points would have beaten 7 teams scores in Week 1.
Man of the Match: Tony Romo - 356 Yds, 3 TDs, 2 Int - 33 Fantasy Points
Dud of the Match:
Charles Johnson - 2 Rec, 27 Yards - 2 Fantasy Points
Worst GM Move of the Match:
Hallsy leaving Austin Rastafarian Jenkins on his bench with 26 points. The 15 point difference between his starting tight end, Martelllus Bennett, and the Rastafarian would have been enough for the victory. Hard to argue with the move though, as Bennett is a proven TE and the Rastafarian is a rookie playing his first NFL game.
Commodore 64's defeat Honey Badgers 91-90
In the closest game of the opening week of the BOMP Season, PTiggy edges out Mike D by a point, even with two of his starters registering 0 points. PTiggy proves his decision to let Drew Brees go was the right one, as Tom Brady easily outplayed Brees week 1 and was the deciding factor in the victory.
Man of the Match: Tom Brady - 288 Yds, 4 TDs, 35 Fantasy Points
Dud of the Match:
DeSean Jackson - 0 Rec, 0 Yards - 0 Fantasy Points
Worst GM Move of the Match:
Not really any bad moves in this match up, but if Mike D started the Jets D instead of the Packers, he would have won by 7 points.
Meat Wallet Defeats the Charleston NFA Crew 90-88
In another close game, JR edges out Craig by 2 points. Craig was let down by the 72 dollar man Calvin Johnson, who had just 39 receiving yards on the day. This game saw great Tight end play, with much maligned Larry Donnell outpointing the usually productive Greg Olsen 2-1
Man of the Match: Aaron Rodgers - 189 Yds, 3 TDs, 28 Fantasy Points
Dud of the Match:
Greg Olsen - 1 Rec, 11 Yards - 1 Fantasy Points
Worst GM Move of the Match:
Craig Started Steve Smith Sr. over Alshon Jeffery, costing him 6 points and the win. Although Jeffery was hurt leading up to the game, he is a top 20 WR, and should warrant a start every week. Steve Smith Sr. is pushing 40, and it showed Sunday.
Kwik-E-Mart Gougers defeat No ACL's 100-68
Tied for the biggest blow out of the opening week, Forrest easily takes down Poos' peg legged squad. Poos had 5 players who did not suit up for action, with only Donte Moncrief receiving any points on his bench. Might be tough going for the No ACLS this season.
Man of the Match: Chris Ivory - 91 Yds, 2 TDs, 21 Fantasy Points
Dud of the Match:
Sammy Watkins - 0 Rec, 0 Yards - 0 Fantasy Points
Worst GM Move of the Match:
Since Poos had no bench players to actually insert into his lineup other than Moncrief, his 2015 draft gets worst GM move of the match.
T B A Defeats Bonnie Johnson is a Saint 126-94
In the most satisfying result of the opening week, Jenkins returns to the league and whoops Pat Murphin by 32 points. This result was a bit of a shocker considering Jenkins has 66$ in cap space left. but his stars came out to play, as Matt Ryan and Julio Jones torched Bradley Fletcher and the Eag...Wait, that wasn't Fletcher? Anyways...
Man of the Match: Julio Jones - 141 Yds, 2 TDs, 29 Fantasy Points
Dud of the Match:
Odell Beckham Junior - 5 Rec, 44 Yards - 4 Fantasy Points
Worst GM Move of the Match:
Not that it would have mattered in the end, but Pat Murphin started Doug Martin over Alfred Morris. Leaving Morris and his 15 points on the bench is tough. Starting Doug Martin in his place is just comical.
Good luck to everyone in week 2...except for Murphin.
